If you are walking down Fifth Avenue and you see a building, with inlaid gray stone, tastefully arranged flowers, and tall elegant rounded-shape windows, note that this is the home of a new Forever 21...the Takashimaya building!
Yup, that's right! The fast-growing chain of trendy, inexpensive fashion is open for business at 693 Fifth Ave., between 54th and 55th street. According to Women's Wear Daily, this Forever 21 store has a six-month lease to try out the market in hopes that it will work...they would like to have it permanently there however.
With the depressing sales of Forever 21 Japanese store (leading them to close), the expectations of stores opening in Hong Kong, and with the recent signing of a bulding lease in London on Oxford Street, Forever 21 seems to want to play it safe with its chosen pricey locations.
Forever 21 has also decided to increase some prices within certain collections to help match the decor and locations of these new stores. "We pumped up the Love 21 [the contemporary collection] with 100% silk items," senior marketing manager Linda Chang told WWD. "It's a little more sophisticated and good quality."
