Picture Story: N*E*R*D x Terence Rushin Photography x Cuervo Games

So, I'm a little late with this, but The Rooftop wasn't really on and popping yet when this happened.. But better late than never. Here are a shitload of pics from the N*E*R*D show at The Cuervo Games, held at Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta on 8/14/10, by the amazing Terence Rushin. Check out the entire photo set here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/terence_rushphotography/sets/72157624735539054/with/4896658989/

Now here's a little story. So me, @Style_Shari, @DayyumGina, and @r0bynelise go to the show. We get there RIGHT when NERD is about to go on. Great timing. And the show is AMAZING! At one point a girl starts crowd surfing and she gets dropped. So Pharell says "HOl up, hold up! Did i just see a girl try to crowdsurf and yall dropped her? naw! not at an NERD show! Try it again!" So the same girl starts crowdsurfing again, and this time everybody was determined that ol girl was NOT gonna fall until she had worked her way through the whole crowd. Pharell even "suggested" that everybody start a moshpit. That's my kind of entertainer right there. But I guess I shouldn't expect anything less from a dude who wrote the line "It's a raw night, who wants to bar fight??"

At another point in time me and the girls get separated from each other, and of course, guess who falls? Yep, you guessed it, Ms. Sasha F. Thumper. So I fall, and I'm trying to get up, and I can't because the crowd was so crazy. So for a NANOsecond I stop trying because I started thinking, "This is how I'm about to die. At a f*ckin NERD show. This is it. They'll have to engrave Went out moshing at a NERD show on my gravestone." Or actually, if I died at a NERD show, I guess they'd have to put (N)o-one (E)ver (R)eally (D)ies on the gravestone. Hmmmm :chin rub:.

:Lame/Mushy alert: I felt like everybody in the audience belonged to the same outer space native tribe, (Think Avatar) and the thread connecting us all was the music that is N*E*R*D. A few times I stopped and looked around at the crowd instead of the stage, and sheer enjoyment, happiness, out-of-this-worldliness was plastered on everyone's face. Literally when i was jumping, there were times when my body would stop, but I'd still be jumping because of the momentum of the crowd. THAT'S how crazy it was.

The last song performed was "Hot N' Fun" from the new album "Nothing" set to release September 7. How fitting since everyone left that show DRENCHED in sweat. Hot N' fun indeed.

Sidenote: Throughout the whole show I thought the bandanda Pharell had tied around his neck was a necklace. I kept looking at it thinking "oh my, what a wonderful piece of chunky jewelry he's wearing. My mama would love that!"
